If you have an interest in graphics and art subjects, and enjoy studio based work as well as digital then this course is ideal for you.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including a GCSE grade C or above in an art and design subject.
What are the key things you’ll learn?
You will explore a wide range of graphics materials, techniques and processes while learning about the work of designers. Some of the art based practice covered will be taught in the studio and will connect to traditional graphics such as printmaking, illustration and hand crafted techniques. Where as the other session will concentrate on the more contemporary practice and be a computer based session using programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Both areas are not exclusive of the each other and the work is brought together as one subject.
How you will learn
You will learn through a combination of practical lessons in the studio and digital classroom and independent critical research will often be supported by visits to regional and national exhibitions and galleries.
Where could this course take you?
You could go on to study art and design full time through a HND course at the college or apply directly to university for a degree in graphic design or a similar graphic course.
What costs will you incur?
There will be little cost involved except the purchase of a couple of journals and a set of basic materials for independent studies and homework.
